Report on International Moon Day Celebration
The Department of Physics, MSM College, celebrated International Moon Day on 27 July 2026 with great enthusiasm to commemorate humanity’s achievements in lunar exploration and to promote scientific awareness among students.
The programme commenced with a welcome address by the Head of the Department, Dr. Jyothi G., who introduced the significance of International Moon Day. She highlighted the importance of lunar exploration, the contributions of space missions, and India’s remarkable achievements in moon exploration, inspiring students to develop a deeper interest in space science.
As part of the celebration, two competitions—a Quiz Competition and a Presentation Competition—were organised for students from various departments.
The winners of the Quiz Competition were:
- First Prize: Devapriya and Theertha (Semester I Physics)
- Second Prize: Arundhathi and Thejaswini (Semester I Physics)
- Third Prize: Anzalna M. and Sarah Sajidu (Semester III Botany)
The winners of the Presentation Competition were:
- First Prize: Amrutha
- Second Prize: Arundhathi
The programme witnessed active participation from students, making the celebration informative and engaging. The competitions encouraged students to enhance their knowledge of the Moon, space exploration, and recent developments in astronomy. The celebration concluded with appreciation for all the participants, making the event a memorable success.
